Kids who train together learn something that's hard to teach any other way. They learn how to work with someone, how to be patient with a partner who's struggling, and how to celebrate someone else's progress as much as their own.

CLASSES

KIDS

Kids' Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at Garra BJJ Nambour builds far more than movement, it develops social skills, confidence, friendships, and the understanding that real skill comes through steady effort over time. Our coaches help children become comfortable with challenge, connection, and gradual improvement, using structured training, positive encouragement, and a supportive environment to teach resilience and pride in their progress, on and off the mats.

Training in the gi is a slower, more deliberate way to learn jiu-jitsu — and that's exactly what makes it so valuable. The collar, sleeves, and lapels give you grips, control, and a whole range of technical possibilities

GI

The Gi (pronounced "gee") is the traditional martial arts uniform - a durable jacket, pants, and belt that form the foundation of classical BJJ training. Wearing the gi introduces grip fighting, collar and sleeve control and lapel usage.

No-gi strips jiu-jitsu back to body positioning, timing, and control — no grips, no lapels, just pure movement and pressure. At Garra BJJ Nambour, our no-gi classes suit every level, from first-timers to experienced grapplers

NO GI

No gi training is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu without the traditional uniform. Instead, practitioners wear a rash guard and shorts (or spats), removing the grips, lapels, and collar control that the gi allows. This style of grappling relies on underhooks, overhooks, wrist control, and body positioning, and closely resembles the grappling used in MMA.

ADVANCED

Our advanced classes take your understanding of jiu jitsu to a deeper level by refining the details, sharpening the subtleties, and developing a real command of position, pressure, and concept. Sessions focus on the finer points that separate good jiu jitsu from great. Grip placement, weight distribution, angles, and timing - while exploring the underlying concepts behind every technique, so you understand not just what to do, but why it works.

While structured to challenge experienced practitioners, these classes aren't just for advanced students; beginners can also benefit from attendance, building a stronger foundation and deeper understanding from day one.
